Paper Snips (Scissors) Holder

Yesterday I went to my fabulous upline, Dania Welch's, holiday party.  Each of us received a brand new pair of paper snips from her.  We also made paper snips holders for them.  I just LOVE mine!!  It was so easy to make and no sewing involved.

Paper Snips Holder

Supplies:
Petal Cone Bigz L Die (121810) $32.95
Blossom Party Originals Die (115971) $17.95
Essentials Designer Fabric (126892) $29.95
Brights Designer Buttons (119747) $8.95
Whisper White Baker's Twine (124262) $2.95
Old Olive 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon (124141) $7.95
Fabric Adhesive Roll (122194) $14.95 - mine uses a lightweight fusible batting (non-SU)
Hot Glue Gun
Big Shot

Instructions:
Fuse 2 pieces of fabric together .  This part I didn't do myself so I'm guessing a bit here.  I believe the fabric squares were about 8x10.  Run through the Big Shot with the Petal Cone die just cutting the big heart shape.  Make sure to conserve and leave enough fabric for flowers.  Run through Big Shot again twice to cut out 2 flowers with Blossom Party die.  Fold large heart shape in half making cone.  Wrap flap around to back and hot glue into place.  Having the new silicone pad to catch any stray glue is helpful here.  Fold down front flap and glue in place.  Glue flowers in place.  We swapped flowers to get more color variety.  Tie twine through button and glue.  You may also want to glue a piece of ribbon over the back seem.  I used Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon.  Dania had already added the ribbon to our paper snips and also a charm with our initials.  That's it!  You're done and "no-sew" easy!!

thanksgiving...

So this year our Thanksgiving was a lot different than our typical Thanksgiving.  We decided to stay home and just have dinner for us.  Now, it was also different because "us" didn't include our two youngest children, but that's not relevant, other than that our Thanksgiving will be even better next year when they are!

So anyway, we really had a great relaxing Turkey Day (well, at least I know I enjoyed it!) and have decided that we are going to just plan to be home on Thanksgiving  every year and just have a turkey dinner for the five of us.  We will celebrate with our extended family on another day should we so choose to.

Here's the deal...there is a lot to try to remember from year to year and I'll be honest, my memory and brain functioning in general has suffered over the past several years, so there is NO WAY I am going to remember what recipes we used, what I modified, how much we cooked, whether we liked the recipes, whether something was too salty or too cheesy, how many leftovers we had, whether we had enough food...you get the point.  So I decided that I am going to need some help with remembering each year which  brought me to create this amazing little companion............

.................................DRUMROLL PLEASE...................................

.................................................................................................................

.......................................................................................................................

............................................DRUMROLL............................................

.....................................................................................................................

ok, seriously it's not that big of a deal, but I am actually really excited about it...

My Thanksgiving Memory Book!

No, this is not going to be a scrapbook in the typical sense...it's literally a $1 notebook, with a decorated cover where I will keep the answers to all of the questions above and probably much more so that I don't have to attempt to remember each year what we did for food, etc.  Is it not adorable!!!

I am working on my Christmas one as I type this so stay tuned!

Happy Stampin'!

My Office!

So I have been trying to work on cleaning and reorganizing...my whole house, but the first thing I want to get done was my "office".  Below you will see it after several projects.  I ran out of time in between projects so I didn't put everything away each time and this is what happened.

DISASTER!

So finally I went and picked out my "desk", built it and I cleaned everything, put everything back where it belongs in it's new home!

The desk is not very deep and I don't end up having a lot of space, but everything has a nice little place to go and I now have a filing system for both my Stampin' Up! business and my Mary Kay business!  I can also now use the tote drawers that were used for my stamping supplies for my Mary Kay inventory!  Now the next thing to tackle is my closet!

Until next time...

Birthday Love?

So I know it's been a while since I posted, but a lot has been going on in my life especially with it being the end of the school year.  Yesterday was the last day of school for my children so today officially starts summer vacation for my family...where did the time go???  With it being summer vacation this will definitely be a transition time for me and Sassy Stampin' Girl business as I will have to learn to manage my business and everyone home all day every day.  To create an even bigger challenge I have added two big responsibilities to my plate...I have signed on to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and I have registered for my very first Marathon at Walt Disney World on January 13, 2013!  I am super excited about both of these adventures, but my time management is going to have to get better!  Less time online and more time doing, because I also want to make sure that I am able to spend as much time with my kids as I can.

So even though I am a perfectionist and want everything perfect, I have to come to terms that it isn't going to be.  How this will affect you as a Sassy Stampin' Girl blog follower?  I am only going to take 15 minutes a day to blog, so they are going to be short and sweet and will probably be mistakes...but isn't that part of the beauty of stamping? Everything is slightly different and nothing is perfect which makes it...Perfect!

So here are two cards that I did at my last class:

This one is extremely simple and yet just adorable!  You can use it for Valentine's Day (although wait until you see the Valentine's stamps in the Holiday Catalog!!!) or you can use it for a sweet little note for someone that you care about.  Here is what I used:

Paper: Wild Wasabi base; Garden Green, Whisper White and Real Red
Ink: Black, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi and Real Red
Stamps: Easy Events
Accessories: Whisper White Satin Ribbon (unfortunately this is retired), 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch

Paper: Whisper White CS (card stock) and DSP (Designer Series Paper), Lucky Limeade, Sahara Sand and Basic Gray
Ink: Black, Basic Gray (snail body), Sahara Sand (snail shell) and Lucky Limeade for the gift box!
Stamps:  Easy Events
Accessories: Basic Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired, even though I LOVE this ribbon!!!), Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Versamark, Iridescent Ice Emboss Powder and of course I needed the heat tool

The Cutest post-it dispenser...

Hello sassy stampers!  So as I mentioned yesterday I went to another demonstrators meeting on Sunday and wait until I show you this cute post-it dispenser! I just LOVE it!

Yes, that little purse with post-its coming out is made out of paper!  That is the new 2012-2014 In-Color Primrose Petal - which I LOVE! It's embossed with clear embossing powder and scored (before heating the powder), we used velcro circles to close the top and an antique brad.  Just ADORABLE!!!  I have to make many more of these for sure!

Back from Scrapbook World...

Hello my Stampin' Friends!  It has been over a week since I posted and I apologize for the unexpected delay...As you know I was working on a scrapbook which was completed Tuesday evening, but since I hadn't done anything but the scrapbook for five days I had a lot of catching up to do around the house and with my business. Unfortunately I can't show you the pages in the scrapbook as they have pictures of students from our local school, but I can show you this page...very simple and elegant but I just love it!

I used Beau Chateau DSP (Designer Series Paper) which is now retired.  However I do have one full package of the paper and about half of the notes that I am selling so contact me if you are interested.  the colors are Soft Suede (my FAVE neutral!), Pink Pirouette (one of my favorite pinks), Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze.  Miss Baird is the kids Choral Director so I tried to make sure that there were music notes on every page as you can see on the Pink Pirouette strip in the middle...so flippin' cute!  This book ended up so beautiful - I just loved it! It was a big hit with the students and especially the teacher!

I went to another demonstrator meeting yesterday and I can't wait to show you what I made there!  Make sure you check back tomorrow to see my absolute favorite thing that I made!

Scrapbook cover...

Hello everyone!  Wait until you see this scrapbook cover that I made...holy cannoli is it awesome!  A friend of my daughter had asked me to make a scrapbook for him so he could give it to a teacher on behalf of the graduating Seniors that took vocal classes with her.  Of course I will!  Well I only had two weeks to get it done and I had no supplies to be able to even start so I had to order everything and because I live on the other side of the country from where the Stampin' Up! product is shipped from it takes a week to get here.  So...I just got it Thursday night and he wants to give it to her at Tuesday night's concert.  What?  Four days to complete an entire scrapbook?  I don't know about this!

Luckily the kids won't be around most of the weekend and there are no real other plans aside from bringing my oldest to and from work and the gym (I will just postpone everything else that I was going to try to get done) so I can just work on it straight through.  I am slowly getting pictures and notes from the students, but I have a good handful to start with.  I have completed the front cover and I just have to show you.  I just LOVE it!

Isn't that just adorable?!?!  I don't even want to give it to them - I LOVE it so much!  Alright enough talking...I am going to get back to work...an entire scrapbook in four days!

Until next time...

Old Catalog and the New Catalog...

Hello Everyone!  So this is going to be really short today as I have a ton of things to do before tomorrow, which is what? The first day of the new Stampin' Up! Catalog!!!  Woohoo!  I am so excited you have to check it out as soon as you can there are some really cool new items!  You can check it out here http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/22124.asp tomorrow.

Right now you will find the current catalog which you can still order from but only until late this evening!  So look now and contact me ASAP if you are interested in ordering or just go to my website using the link to the right.  Some of the items are already not available so hurry and complete your order before 11:59pm MST tonight.

Since some, a lot, of the product in the current catalog is retiring today I can start selling any of the items that I have tomorrow.  So I will be having a Retirement Party!!!  Now, I don't have a TON of stuff as I am still a new  demonstrator, but I do have a medium sized boxed of stamps and embellishments that I have barely used that I will be selling at a minimum of 50% off.  Here is a sneak peak at what I will have available!

Don't miss out on some great deals!

...as.promised...last four cards!

So here they are - the last four cards from the SWAP I did over a week ago!

This card is using the Sweets for the Sweet stamp set which is adorable! I love the pinwheels!

I LOVE the ribbon/bow on this card! I don't know how she made this bow so perfectly!  And the Designer Frames Embossing Folder is one of my favorites!  You can use it in so many different ways - I just love it!

Now check this one out!  It is a pot of flowers!  How lovely is this?  The flowers pull out for the note on the inside.  Very Crafty!

A Bird House!  A BIRD HOUSE card!  What?  How creative is this?  I love how one bird is peaking out and one is sitting at the front of the house.  I love the wood stamp to make it look like a real wood bird house...just LOVE it!

So that is the end of my SWAPS! I hope you enjoyed the cards that I received as much as I did.  Tomorrow is my anniversary so I did make a cute little card for my husband that I will share with you soon.  I also had a wonderful little workshop this past weekend and I would love to share the gift card holders that I made for the hostess and the ones that we made at the workshop.  So keep an eye for those in the next few days!

Until then...

Back from Memorial Day Weekend!

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone here in America enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend!  It was just beautiful here in my hometown.  Well let's see what else we have from the SWAP...

So yellow and orange aren't usually my favorite colors but I like the way they look together on this card.  It's very simple yet I LOVE it!  It looks like the demonstrator who made this card used a "tapping" technique on the edges of the flower to make it have an orange edge on he petals.  Very crafty!

Very simple, yet very cute.  You can't really see it in the picture, but the Summer Smooches DSP (Designer Series Paper) that is matted is what actually flips up to open the card.  Very unique idea!

I LOVE the colors on this card and the design.  Again, very simple yet VERY cool!  The Manhattan Flower embossing folder is one of my faves and you can't really see but the red flowers were wet embossed making them look VERY cool!

Be sure to look out for next time so that you can see the last four cards that I received at the SWAP. Two of them are EXTREMELY unique and very crafty, so don't miss them!  Until next time...

almost done...

Yes I am still going with the pictures of cards I received in the SWAP!  Isn't that so exciting?  And I still have more to show you!

This one we actually made during the meeting as we always have M&T's (make and takes).  I learned a new way to make a bow with this card and a new technique although I can't remember the name of it.  Very cool!

How cool does this card look?!  It literally looks like a doily on top!  This is also another card that we made for a M&T and also has a new technique I have never done before that I think is called reverse embossing.  This is what makes the doily look 3-D.  Very cool!  I am definitely getting some doily stamps and making more with this technique.

This is one of the cards I received in the SWAP.  These colors are so summery (is that even a word?) - just adorable!  I love the label framelits that were used.

Well I am off to enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend with my family!  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

some more cards...

Just a quick today folks...some more cards from my SWAP on Sunday...

I LOVE this cute thank you card!  I have never seen the Just Believe stamp look so cute! LOVE it!

I love the color coordination on this card.  The colors are perfect together!

Now this card was done using the baby wipes technique...I think.  What a cool effect!

Off to finish prepping for my class tonight just in case someone shows up and prepping for a workshop on Saturday.  If you are interested in hosting a workshop and getting free products contact me!

Until next time...

SWAP cards...

Hello Everyone!  So as promised here are the first two of a handful of cards I received from the SWAP at yesterday's Demonstrator meeting.  Now, since these are cards that other people have made I don't know the details on them...sorry!

How cute is this card?  Now when I have looked in the catalog and seen these balloons, I've thought, "Eh I don't really know anyone that is into hot air ballooning...", but how cute is this!?!  I love that this demonstrator used the cupcake builder punch for the clouds - how crafty is that?!  The sky is definitely the limit!

This is an adorable little thank you card using the summer smooches paper and the blossom punch that was in the Occasions book that ended April 2012, however, I have seen the new catalog and IT IS IN THERE!

This is definitely one of my favorites...I LOVE these colors together!  So flippin cute! I love the polka dot embossing!  I love the beautiful bow and need to learn how to make them this perfect! I love it all...

I will be sure to post more pictures tomorrow.  Please make sure to come back to see more of the cards.  And don't forget that I am having a card class on Wednesday!  If you are interested in attending please contact me ASAP!!!  Until next time...

Prom Pics...and a rainbow card!

Hello everyone!  So first things first...PROM pictures!!

My girl and her Prom Date, the infamous Dan, showing off their shoes....

Can you tell they are drama kids?

...the drama and poses continue...

I love this picture of these guys!

Well anyway, you didn't come to my page to look at prom pics!  Once a month I go to one of my Demonstrators meetings and there is always a SWAP and a challenge.  Even though last month I made the 24 cards it takes to participate, something came up and I wasn't able to attend, so this month was the first month that I was able to participate in the SWAP and I was so excited!  The theme this month was "summer" - make a card that makes you think of summer.  So here is what I made...

I know that rainbows can pretty much happen whenever, but when I see rainbows I think of sun showers in the summer, so I just had to do a rainbow card.  About an hour into making them I regretted going with this design...well only a little.  It's very time consuming and tedious, but I just love them.  Don't you?

Well of course with doing the SWAP with everyone that chose to participate I got lots of really cool cards!  Come back tomorrow to see some of the cards.  Until then...
